About the song

Pain Is Permission is a post-hardcore band from Bandung, built on one stubborn idea: that our hardest feelings are not in the way of growing, they are how it happens. Silverwake is their debut single, and it came out of a short meeting that changed everything. A person who made it feel safe to love again, who looked past the mask and took the cracks as they were. Then she was gone. The song holds all of it at once: the prayer that did not work, the hands that could not hold on, the days that keep moving anyway. It also lets a man be openly soft and openly broken, which is rarer than it should be. Beautiful things do not always stay. Neither does the storm.

Lyrics

I never feel the same
Since you left this heart
(You left me cold)
I'm calling out your name
Over and over
Yet you keep refusing to stay

Everything kept moving on
But the memories still remain
(I'm holding on)

She slipped through my hands while I pray
It's hard to realize that you're gone
(Away)
Far away
I need you here to stay

It's hard when things are changing
I lost control
I reach for you, but you're slippin' away
From me

She slipped through my hands while I pray
It's hard to realize that you're gone
(Away)
Far away
I need you here to stay

Please don't let me go
'Cause you're the only light I need
I put hope inside my prayer
But it dies, it breaks away

It feels like I've done it again
It feels like I'm drowning again
So pull me back
Just pull me back
